Last Days to Visit the Exhibition of the XI Central Bank National Painting Award at the Museum of the BCRA

Friday, February 08, 2019. The works of art selected from the 2018 National Painting Award will be exhibited until next Friday, February 22. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm on the ground floor of the BCRA Museum, San Martín 216, City of Buenos Aires. Admission is free.

With the slogan Art is all yours, the exhibition encourages us to explore the works of art of renowned and emerging as well as traditional and unconventional artists. This initiative seeks to bring the general public to BCRA's pictorial collection as part of Argentina’s artistic heritage.

In this XI edition, Margarita Paksa was awarded the Great Prize for Distinguished Painters for her work The city belongs to you-II. The First Purchase Prize was awarded to Diego Alejandro Vergara for his Untitled work, the Second Purchase Prize was for Mariana Ferrari for her work Dos and the Third Purchase Prize was for Milton Hernán Kalbermatter for his work Strong and slow.

In the Honorable Mentions category for people under 35, Valentina Ansaldi received the award for the First Purchase Prize for her work Yeruá, the Second Purchase Prize was for Carlos Cima for I have never been invited, I don’t know if I will go, while Tiziana Pierri was awarded the Third Purchase Prize for The guest.

The jury of the XI Central Bank National Painting Award was composed of Marisa Baldasarre, Jimena Ferreiro, Nancy Rojas, Pablo Siquier and Eduardo Stupía, and curator Eva Grinstein. The exhibition features 26 finalist works that have been selected among more than 600 artists across the country. The winning works are now part of the BCRA’s pictorial collection.

The federal scope of the Award and itinerant nature of the exhibition contribute towards the dissemination of artwork, enabling Argentine artists to reach people.
