Marcelo Alejandro Castro was appointed today as member of the Board of the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) in place of Pablo Curat, who has submitted his resignation for personal reasons to the President of Argentina effective as of February 15.
The Governor of the BCRA, Guido Sandleris, would like to express his gratitude to Pablo Curat for his work as a member of the Board for over three years, and for the experience and expertise on the banking sector he brought to the BCRA.
Marcelo Castro, the newly appointed member of the Board, graduated as a public accountant from Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA). He has more than 30 years of experience as a senior officer in the domestic and international banking industry.
He was Global Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Wholesale Banking for Grupo Santander between 2008 and 2013, and then held the position of Global Treasurer throughout 2014. Between 2015 and 2017, Marcelo Castro was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Abbey National Treasury in the United Kingdom. He served as director of Santander Investment Securities in the United States between 2006 and 2007.
