The 2022 Money and Banking Conference organized by the BCRA will be held on November 23 and 30. Authorities of central banks of the region, representatives of international organizations and outstanding academic figures will take part in the event. The President of the BCRA, Miguel Ángel Pesce, will also participate.
Under the heading Challenges of the New Global Context for Macroeconomic Stability and Growth, this conference will be a hybrid event: the first discussion panel (November 23) will be virtual (online meeting) and the second panel (November 30) will be live (in-person meeting). The topics are: macrofinancial stability and economic development, and challenges and prospects related to monetary policy.
The conference will be given by Mario Cimoli, former Deputy Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC); Jayati Ghosh, Professor at University of Massachusetts Amherst; Luiz Awazu Pereira da Silva, Deputy General Manager of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS); and Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development of Columbia University.
Roger Edwin Rojas Ulo, President of the Central Bank of Bolivia; Julio Velarde, President of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru; and Humberto Colman, Member of the Board of the Central Bank of Paraguay, will also take part in the conference.
On behalf of the BCRA, Sergio Woyecheszen, Vice President; Jorge Carrera, Pablo Carreras Mayer and Agustin D’Atellis, Members of the Board; and Germán Feldman, Economic Research Deputy General Manager, among others, will moderate conference sessions. Miguel Ángel Pesce, President of the BCRA, will close the conference. The conference is open and free of charge. Interested people from all over Argentina and the region will be able to watch the conference through the BCRA’s website, which also contains relevant information (program and speakers’ bios and panels). Prior registration will be required for the in-person panel held on November 30.
Like all other academic and outreach initiatives of the BCRA, the conference—organized by the Economic Research Deputy General Management Office—seeks to stimulate discussion on macroeconomic, monetary and financial topics. It is addressed to a wide audience, and to academics and policymakers, among others.
