BCRA Awarded All BOPREAL Series 3 Bonds

The BCRA has conducted today the ninth auction of the Bonds for the Reconstruction of a Free Argentina (Bonos para la Reconstrucción de una Argentina Libre, BOPREAL) Series 3, and awarded a nominal value (NV) of USD60 million reaching the total amount available for the series—USD3,000 million (NV).

Companies submitted bids for USD30.8 million (NV) to settle debts on imports, and for USD60.1 million (NV) to use for the transfer of profits. As bids exceeded the residual maximum issuance amount, bonds were awarded pro rata based on the amount demanded.

With this auction, the BCRA awarded the maximum amount of the three BOPREAL Series for a total of USD10,000 million: BOPREAL Series 1 reached a quota of USD5,000 million (NV), and Series 2, USD2,000 million (NV). This new instrument allows to cut down outstanding foreign debts significantly, absorbing a massive amount of pesos in circulation, thus, contributing to the reduction of the endogenous creation of money.
