New API that Improves Debtors’ Database Accessibility

The BCRA has launched the Application Programming Interface (API) of the Debtors’ Database. This technological development streamlines the interaction between programs and applications, improving access to public information and financial transparency.

The Debtors’ Database API will provide quick and easy access to information on financing granted in the financial system. This information is highly requested by users. Indeed, this is the most visited section of the website.

The Debtors’ Database is the fourth API implemented by the BCRA. The other APIs already made available include those of Main Variables, Reported Checks, and Foreign Exchange Statistics, launched in April, June and August, respectively.

These innovative, public and free tools enable a dynamic and streamlined interaction with databases, reducing the cost and time associated with market participants’ queries. These APIs substantially contribute to efficiency and accessibility, strengthening security in financial transactions in Argentina.

The new Debtors’ Database API facilitates the following queries for each identification code—taxpayer identification number (CUIT), employee identification number (CUIL) or identity code (CDI):

- Consolidated reports on the amount, status, and days in arrears of financing granted by financial institutions, non-financial credit and/or purchase card issuers, providers of peer-to-peer lending services through platforms, reciprocal guarantee companies, public guarantee funds, financial trusts and other non-financial credit providers.

- Reports on bounced checks.

The launch of APIs is part of the BCRA’s Open Finance strategy, which seeks to improve the flow of information in the financial system to promote inclusion and transparency.
