The Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) has launched a special issuance of coins in commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the Malvinas Islands deed in order to pay homage to the combatants who risked their lives and died to defend our national sovereignty over the southern archipelago.
Within this special issuance, 200 coins packed in a distinctive case were given to former Argentine combatants as a present during a celebration event held on Monday, April 2, 2007 in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego province, attended by national government authorities.
The center shows a Malvinas Islands deed former combatant on the Argentine Flag. The upper arch reads “1982 REPÚBLICA ARGENTINA 2007” (“1982 ARGENTINE REPUBLIC 2007”) and the lower arch, “LA NACIÓN A SUS HÉROES” (“THE NATION TO ITS HEROES”).
The center shows the Malvinas Islands, the upper arch reads “MALVINAS ARGENTINAS” (“ARGENTINE MALVINAS”) and below, divided in two lines, the date of the event being commemorated: “2 DE ABRIL 1982” (“APRIL 2, 1982”). The lower arch shows the face value and below it, “2007” (year of coinage).
