The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Argentina has approved the participation of Argentina in the “2006 FIFA World Cup Germany Commemorative Coin Program”. The coins already issued in silver in 2003, 2004 and 2005, and in gold in 2004 and 2005 are part of this program.
2003 Coin: It shows a motionless football and confetti as a celebration of victory. The upper arch reads “REPÚBLICA ARGENTINA” (“ARGENTINE REPUBLIC”) and the lower arch, “2003”.
2004 Coin: It shows a football player with a ball. The upper arch reads “REPÚBLICA ARGENTINA” (“ARGENTINE REPUBLIC”) and the lower arch, “2004”.
2005 Coin: It shows a football player who is about to kick the ball hard. The upper left-hand arch reads “REPÚBLICA ARGENTINA” (“ARGENTINE REPUBLIC”) and the lower arch, "2005”.
The upper arch reads “COPA MUNDIAL DE LA FIFA” (“FIFA WORLD CUP”) and at the bottom “ALEMANIA 2006” (“GERMANY 2006”) in two lines. The center shows the World Cup logo, the value in numbers and the word “PESOS” beneath.
