The center displays the writer’s portrait surrounded by his name and the dates commemorated, “1986-2006”. The legend "REPUBLICA ARGENTINA" (ARGENTINE REPUBLIC) is arranged to form the upper arch enclosed by two pearls, and the inscription “EN UNIÓN Y LIBERTAD” (IN UNION AND LIBERTY) shapes the lower arch.
It shows the image of one of Borges’ stories, “El hombre de la esquina rosada” (Man on Pink Corner); the right margin displays the face value, “1”, and the word “PESO” is inside the number. The exergue contains the year of coinage, “2006”.
