The Central Bank signed a commitment to implement a healthy environment strategy

The Governor of the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA), Federico Sturzenegger, together with the Health Minister, Jorge Lemus, have signed an agreement to improve employees’ health and reduce the risks of non-communicable diseases.

Today, the Governor of the BCRA and the Minister of Health of Argentina have agreed on striving for adopting the healthy environment strategy formulated by the National Health Department. This strategy seeks to implement specific actions that may contribute towards reducing the main risk factors of non-communicable diseases among employees, such as tobacco, poor nutrition, and low physical activity.

The adoption of this strategy by the BCRA involves “going a step further to extend the program mainly designed to healthy nutrition and physical exercise. In so doing governmental institutions are encouraging the rest of the society”, underlines Minister Lemus, and he adds: “[with this agreement] the Central Bank will be able to accomplish the objectives of getting a Healthy Workplace in six months”.

In turn, Sturzenegger assured: “the support of the Ministry of Health for a fundamental value as the quality of life of our employees is invaluable and I hope this attitude may replicate in other areas”. Finally, he adds: “From the Central Bank we have committed ourselves enthusiastically”.
