More operations at banks as of April 20, 2020

Since April 20, banks are opening during normal working hours. As to financial users, they are required to make an appointment for in-person services, including foreign currency deposits and withdrawals.

Retirees and pensioners are exempted from this requirement, but they may only attend the branch on the day set by ANSES.

Customers can make an appointment online through the bank’s website, among other channels. The bank and the customer may arrange an appointment for any day of the week. The ticket of the appointment so arranged serves as a circulation permit and will be requested for entry into the bank.

At the branches, both individuals and companies may open and manage accounts, apply for loans, submit documentation, and access safe-deposit boxes. Now customers may also carry out transactions in US dollars, both for making deposits as well as for withdrawals, but always with a previously arranged appointment.

Withdrawal and deposit transactions in pesos are only carried out through ATMs, self-service terminals, or other systems made available by the institution. In the case of large amounts of cash, whatever the activity, deposits or withdrawals must be previously agreed with the institution.

Banks are to ensure that financial services users may withdraw at least ARS15,000 per day — in a single transaction, if they so wish — free of charges or commissions, either for customers or non-customers, up to June 30.

Financial services users may also withdraw money at stores or withdrawal points, such as supermarkets or pharmacies.

Foreign exchange houses will be closed to the public. However, they may operate remotely.
