Economy Workshop | Augusto de la Torre (World Bank)

We are pleased to invite you to take part in the workshop that will take place at Reconquista 250, 9th floor, next Wednesday, August 31st at 5 pm. Please confirm attendance by e-mail to: investig@bcra.gob.ar

Abstract:

Latin America’s big leap into more stable, healthier and better regulated financial systems has not been accompanied by a significant level of bank credit depth. Particularly, the stock of bank credit in the region (measured in terms of GPD) is very low compared to middle-income regions’—this gap opening up rather than closing—. Financing to SMEs, and, particularly, local currency long-term financing are issues of critical importance when dealing with this gap. Augusto de la Torre will discuss this topic, its feasible causes and implications to establish an agenda for change.

Augusto de la Torre is chief economist for Latin America and the Caribbean at the World Bank.

Venue | Reconquista 250, floor 9 – Meetings room.
